It was down to business immediately.

Anya and Danny: safe
Sabra and Dominic: safe
Sara and Jesus: safe
Shauna and Jimmy: Bottom 3

The members of the bottom 3 couples danced for their lives, after which the judges convened to discuss which contestants to cut while Daddy Yankee entertained the audience.

Jessi: safe
Shauna: safe
Faina: gone

Pasha: safe
Jimmy: gone

Next week, Cedric will be paired with Shauna. Hopefully, his performances will improve as a result of a different partner.

SYTYCD June 20, 2007 - Top 18

The show began with intros, first of the dancers, then Cat, and finally the judges.

Lauren and Neil were up first. In contrast to the salsa they drew last week, this week’s routine was hip hop. Lauren’s mom inspired her to dance, while Neil was in preschool with his twin brother and a friend in their class was taking dance. Dave Scott choreographed the routine for this pair and they turned out a high energy performance. Neil’s acrobatics were impressive, to say the least. All three judges liked the performance, and Neil was making Cat laugh after the judges’ comments. Mia went as far as to say that Neil could have done without Lauren in this routine.

SYTYCD - June 14, 2007 - Top 20 Results Show

The show started with a recap of last night’s performances. There was a Wade Robson choreo group number in which all the contestants participated.
After the group number, the pairs were lined up on stage to learn whether they were safe or in the bottom 3.

Jamie and Hok: safe
Anya and Danny: safe
Sabra and Dominic: bottom 3
Lacey and Kameron: safe
Ashlee and Ricky: bottom 3
Sara and Jesus: safe
Pasha and Jessie: safe
Lauren and Neil: safe
Fiana and Cedric: bottom 3
Shauna and Jimmy: safe

Benjamin Schwimmer, last year’s winner performed a routine which was entertaining, containing some elements of jive along with other dance types, although we could have done without seeing his underwear at the end.

SYTYCD - June 13, 2007

Tonight is the first performance episode of the show. The top 20 have been made into 10 couples, who will dance for viewer’s votes. The couples have pulled the dance song out of a hat, to which they perform a routine. At the results show, the bottom 3 couples will dance solos. The judges decide which guy and girl go home.
Jamie and Hok were the first pair out. Although hip-hop is definitely Hok’s forte, Jamie did respectably well in keeping up with him despite this style being out of her comfort zone of contemporary and ballet. Shane  Sparks, who readers may remember was one of the judges during the auditions, choreographed the routine and coached the couple in practice sessions.

Anya and Danny were next out. Anya’s style is ballroom, being one half of a ballroom duo that made it to the top 20 (Pasha was her partner), while Danny specializes in ballet, and is the adopted brother of last year’s winner. Tony Meredith choreographed the jive freestyle routine for this pair. They seemed to handle the choreography well for the performance, even executing a lift at the end. The judges seemed to love this performance.

SYTYCD - June 7, 2007

Tonight, all the work to this point comes to fruition, as the 50 remaining dancers find out whether or not their efforts are enough to land them one of the spots in the top 20.

At the beginning of the show, 16 of the dancers are cut outright leaving 34, 17 guys and 17 gals, to hope for the spots in the top 20.
Some of the ones who did not make it were surprising to us, such as Janet Bombard, who had looked impressive throughout the auditions, despite having only one arm. Caitlyn Cuchiara was another elimination surprise, as she was one of the few who made it straight to Vegas.

SYTYCD - June 6, 2007

Tonight was the beginning of the Vegas round. By the time this round is over, there will only be twenty dancers remaining. Ten guys and ten girls will make the finals.

Mia, Mary, Shane, and Nigel were sitting in the judges panel. To advance to the next round, contestants needed three of the four to vote for them. If the vote was split 2-2, the contestant would be required to come back after the round and “dance for his/her life,” meaning that they could do a routine of their choosing. In this scenario, they also needed three of the four to vote for them to advance. Any less than that, and the contestant was out of the competition.

SYTYCD - May 31, 2007

Tonight’s show featured the last stop on the audition trail: Atlanta. Shane Sparks returned as guest judge, flanking Mary and Nigel.

Auditions started out strong, with Caitlyn Cuchiara’s ballet influenced performance earned positive reviews from all three judges. Another one to Vegas!

Tony Velez, having presented a breaking routine with good body control; and Brandon Norris the clogger, took a detour to the choreo round, from where both subsequently are Vegas-bound.
