Our first stop tonight is in Charleston. Sheila Kaiser auditions first, against the wishes of her father. We’re surprised at how good she is- she has lots of musicality. The judges send her straight to Vegas.
 
Next are Erin Mansour and John Tabakian, dancing a ballroom routine. Only problem is, Erin has apparently only been dancing ballroom for eight hours. What? Why? Does she WANT to be ridiculed? Hopefully so, because that’s exactly what happens. Neither of them actually dance- she just walks around and shakes her butt once in a while, and he’s like a zombie. The worst thing about all this is, she says she’s a dance teacher. Ack! Thankfully, they’re both cut.
 
At first we’re not sure about Jeremiah Hughes, but it turns out he’s actually pretty good. He’s a bit inconsistent and screws up in a pretty major way at one point, but overall he does a good job. The judges apparently also see his potential, and they send him straight to Vegas.

Tonight, we’re off to Salt Lake City and Dallas in search of America’s favorite dancer. The first stop is Salt Lake City.
 
The first auditioner of the night is Chelsea Hightower, whose older brother paid for her dance lessons when her family was suffering financially. Her ballroom audition is nice, but it doesn’t really stand out. However, she makes it straight to Vegas.
 
Next is Brett Banford, who has Downs syndrome and says he wants to show people that having a disability doesn’t mean you can’t have a normal life. He’s a Special Olympics ambassador and also studies tae kwon do. His audition shows a bit of that tae kwon do training, and he’s actually quite good. He gets cut, but we’re glad he got a few minutes to shine.

 Tonight’s two-hour premiere is the first audition special of the season. It’s the usual mix of good and bad dancers, and some that are just plain strange.
 
Some of the standouts of the night:
 
Jonathan Anzalone, from Italy. He oozes arrogance. It turns out he’s not a half bad dancer, but we can’t really get past the immensely annoying personality. The judges ask him to stay for the choreography round later in the day. During that round, he’s ultimately cut. He says he thinks it’s because he’s too beautiful for the competition. Yeah, that must be what it is.
 
What would a new season be without another audition from Sex? Well, it’d be one less bad audition. Is this at all different from anything he’s done in the past? Is there some valid reason why the judges don’t just have him escorted from the premises at this point? Nigel told him last year to never audition again. Are we supposed to have forgotten that? Needless to say, we’ll be “suffering” from a lack of Sex again this season.
