SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 16 Results

The show opens tonight with a Mia Michaels group number. It’s sufficiently creepy. We like.

Tonight, we quickly find out that Chelsea and Thayne are the first couple in the bottom three. Katee and Joshua are safe, as well as Chelsie and Mark. Seems America has gotten it right so far.

The next couple to join those who are safe is Kherington and Twitch, followed by Courtney and Gev. Not surprisingly, Comfort and Chris are in the bottom three.

This means that either Kortni and Matt or Jessica and Will are in the bottom three. After a suspense-filled pause, we learn that it’s… Kortni and Matt. Boo. Hiss.

SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 16

For the first time this season, Adam Shankman joins regular judges Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe. It’s go time!

Kherington and Twitch start the evening off, and they’ve got a lot to live up to after last week’s incredible Viennese waltz. This week they’re performing a hip hop routine choreographed by Tabitha & Napoleon. We personally never really think their choreography is very hip hop, but this one is entertaining nonetheless. It’s got a great “old school” feel. This is a bit of a let-down after last week, but it’s still good. Our rating: 8/10

Next are Courtney and Gev, dancing a rumba choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin. At first, it seems to be lacking a bit of connection, but they step it up by about halfway through the routine. Courtney seems to command a bit more attention than Gev does, but the performance is good overall. Our rating: 8/10

SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 18 Results

Things get moving quickly tonight, starting with a group performance choreographed by Shane Sparks.

The first three couples to the stage are Joshua & Katee, Twitch & Kherington, and Thayne & Chelsea. After a quick recap of last night’s performances, we learn that Thayne and Chelsea are the first couple in the bottom three this week.

In the next round, Mark & Chelsie find out they’re safe, along with Matt & Kortni… AND Will & Jessica. Only three couples left, and two of them will be dancing solos tonight.

SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 18

The bar has been set, and it’s time to see if the contestants can carry on what they started last week. Tonight’s judges are Mia Michaels, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe.

Thayne and Chelsea open the show with a jazz routine choreographed by Mandy Moore. The routine starts off with a whole lot of… nothing. Also, for jazz, this looks an awful lot like ballroom. Bad ballroom. Most of the routine is just a lot of posing, and we find ourselves wondering if it’s ever going to go anywhere. Our rating: 3/10

SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 20 Results

Oh, how we have missed the Wade Robson group performances on this show. Tonight’s does not disappoint, especially considering the fact that Nigel finds himself hogtied as part of the performance. What a great way to open the show!

It’s good news for the first three couples of the night. Kherington and Twitch are safe. The same goes for Chelsea, Thayne, Chelsie and Mark.

Kortni and Matt are the first couple in the bottom three. This is crappy, but we do look forward to seeing Kortni’s solo. Susie and Marquis are safe, as well as Comfort and Chris. Rayven and Jamie, on the other hand, are in the bottom three.

SYTYCD Season 4 - Top 20

Tonight, after hearing comments from judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Dan Karaty, we’ll be able to vote for our favorites for the first time this season.
The first couple of the night is Rayven and Jamie dancing a hip hop routine choreographed by Napoleon and Tabitha. Our first thought is that this routine looks much more like jazz than hip hop. Although it’s a bit cheesy and we question whether or not it’s “true” hip hop, it’s still entertaining. Our rating: 7/10

Next are Susie and Marquis, dancing a smooth waltz by Hunter Johnson. Susie starts off fairly well, but there’s something awkward about Marquis. Somehow it doesn’t seem like they’re quite in sync with their music. The routine has potential, but they never quite reach it. Our rating: 7/10

SYTYCD Season 4 - Vegas

Welcome to Vegas! By the end of tonight’s episode, we’ll know who’s in the top 20.

Day one begins with over 200 dancers, working on a hip hop routine. Before the auditions even begin, early favorite Robert Muraine decides to quit the competition because he feels he’s not cut out for choreography.

By 3 PM, 150 dancers have performed and 62 have been eliminated. Among those 62 is Claire Calloway, who completely forgets her choreography and just stands on the stage throughout the entire song.

At the end of day one, 129 dancers remain in the competition.

SYTYCD Season 4 - Milwaukee Auditions

This is the last night of auditions, and so far 179 people have been sent to Vegas. But before we find out what Milwaukee has to offer, let’s see some of the auditions we missed from the other cities. Right after a montage of Nigel’s reactions to some of the hip hop dancers.

Speaking of hip hop dancers, Michael Kim is back after being cut in season 2. His hip hop routine is amazing- we really hope he can do something else just as well. The judges determine they don’t need to see anything else, however, and send him straight to Vegas.

Next are roommates Katee Shean and Natalie Reid. Katee auditions first, and while she doesn’t do anything we haven’t seen before, she IS good, and she has a great personality and stage presence. The judges send her straight to Vegas.
