Two more hours until we crown the next winner- although, we’re pretty sure we already know what’s going to happen. Besides revealing the final results, we’ll also see performances from Leona Lewis, Adam Lambert, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Lopez, as well as revisiting some of the judges’ favorite dances from throughout the season.
 
First we go back to top 14 week for a group performance. This piece sort of sums up the way we’ve felt about the entire season- it’s kind of forgettable. Actually, we HAD forgotten about this until seeing it again tonight, and the same goes for some of these dancers. Sad, considering it hasn’t even been very long since they were all competing on the show.

Hard to believe we’re here already- the performance finale! Tonight is the last chance for the top 6 to compete for our votes. Tomorrow, the new winner is crowned.
 
Kathryn and Ryan kick things off with a samba. To us, Kathryn looks kind of uncomfortable and all over the place, and that makes this much less fun to watch than we had hoped. The judges disagree, as usual. Our rating: 7/10
 
Ellenore and Jakob’s Broadway piece really doesn’t look very Broadway to us, but we can’t really blame them for that. Overall this isn’t a big standout for us, but it does come together a bit more by about halfway through it. But we’re just not blown away- the whole thing comes across as a bit cheesy and awkward. Our rating: 7/10

It’s time for another round of eliminations- and after this one is over, we’ll know who’s in next week’s finale. We’ll also see performances from Kris Allen and the Wonder Girls tonight.
 
The Sonya Tayeh group routine is not one of our favorites this season. It’s okay, but we’re sort of on the fence. We find the weirdness a bit overwhelming.
 
After a mention of Samantha Ronson’s remixes for this week (again, why do we care?) the guys are called to the stage for their results. The bottom two are Legacy and Ryan, which means Russell and Jakob are in the finale.
 
Time to learn the fate of the girls. Kathryn and Ashleigh are safe, leaving Ellenore and Mollee in the bottom four. We’re annoyed.

In another twist for tonight’s show, each couple will be dancing to one remixed song during one performance. And we care because… why?
 
Also, some injury news this week. Ashleigh has dislocated her shoulder, and despite her insistence that she feels fine and could dance, her doctor will not clear her to do so until after she’s had an MRI. However, there will still be a voting line open for Ashleigh so viewers can vote for her based on past performances if they want to see her in next week’s finale. (Speaking of which, why is the top 6 the finale this year?)
 
Kathryn and Ryan kick things off with a disco. It starts off too slow, and by the time it gets into it we’re not really all that interested any more. We don’t see a lot of chemistry here, and a couple of the lifts seem awkward. Not one of the best starts to the show we’ve seen. Our rating: 7/10

It’s that time of the week again- time for ten to become eight. And also, for the first time this season, time to see if the viewers can manage to vote off the right people.
 
We like the theme of tonight’s group performance, but the choreography is absolute crap. Well, actually, scratch that- it’s not that it’s crap, it’s that there really isn’t much choreography involved at all. We’re shocked when we hear Tyce Diorio was behind it, because he’s usually much more impressive.
 
Time for another “dance vocabulary” piece with Dominic. Yay! He makes such a great host! Unfortunately this crowd doesn’t seem to have a clue about much of anything, but everyone who participates gets a diamond bracelet anyway.

We’ve reached the top 10, which means all original pairs have been split up and everyone performs with a new partner this week. It also means everyone performs a solo, and the audience votes are the sole determining factor in who goes home tomorrow night. Let the games begin!
 
Noelle and Ryan kick things off with a hip hop… sort of. It’s a pretty close ripoff of Mandy Moore’s amazing table routine from a few seasons back, and that turns us off. We just can’t get into it. Our rating: 7/10
 
Ashleigh and Legacy’s contemporary piece starts with some really cool dramatic lighting… and it keeps up the excitement throughout. Legacy is more believable, but they both do a great job and get rave reviews from the judges. This is off the wall and memorable, and besides the fact that we could have done with a wee bit more energy sometimes, this was great. Our rating: 9/10
